Davis & Sons
Construction Company was founded by Ronnie C. Davis in 1975. Mr. Davis, a
civil engineer, established the company to construct USDA-RD 515 apartment
complexes he was developing. Ultimately, Davis & Sons constructed 3,560
USDA units that were family-owned and another 2,663 units for other
clients.
In the late
1980s, the USDA-RD program began to experience severe funding cutbacks.
Davis & Sons began focusing on other affordable housing development programs
such as the 9% tax credit and bond programs. During this period, an
additional 2,870 family-owned units were constructed and another 793 units
for clients. These third-party developments included various complexes for
local housing authorities, a Marriott Residence Inn and several condominium
developments.
In May 1988,
Stefan M. Davis joined the team after receiving his building
construction degree from the University of North Florida.
In the late
1990s, Davis & Sons began constructing student housing communities
throughout the southeast. We constructed 1,949 student housing units at the
University of Florida, University of Central Florida, University of
South Florida, University of Mississippi and East Carolina University. The
unit mixes consisted primarily of 3BR/3BA and 4BR/4BA units.
In May 2001,
Stefan M. Davis purchased the construction company and reorganized it
as Davis & Sons Construction Company, LLC. Since the reorganization, 1,144
affordable housing units have been constructed, 770 of which were for other
clients. Additionally, 1,306 student housing units have been constructed
with 786 of these being third-party contracts.
Davis & Sons has
also constructed 614 units of condominiums/luxury apartments. This includes
a 22-story high rise tower in Biloxi, Mississippi containing 112
units.
In total, Davis &
Sons Construction resume includes rehabilitation and/or construction of
nearly 15,000 units.
